Learning about Chicago again in arch. We had to make a postcard and write about the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893. I decided to personify the Statue of the Republic “Golden Lady” and write it to the Statue of Liberty “Lady Liberty”. Haha clever right? My postcard got picked and critiqued in class today so I had to talk about it. My GSI loved how I made “The White City” a black one and how it disappears and crumbles in perspective (it actually burned down in a fire). Her interpretation is that it’s ironic how dark it is and how it’ll never be the ideal city and that in contrast, there is a gold-glimmering heroic figure in the foreground as if to lead the way. Also, my professor said it was really, really good. I don’t know why I love postcards so much and hand-written letters and mail. Maybe it’s because it’s sent from far away. Anyway, here’s my postcard of Chicago—“The White City”— in mixed medium of micron pens, acrylic paint, and water color. It was pretty quick but I like it. It’s making me super excited for spring break— the deep dish pizza, cloud gate, the museums, history, skyline, travel, architecture, architecture, and… did I mention architecture?

Dearest Mom and Dad,

I’ll pay you guys back eventually. :,( I feel so guilty, I don’t think you guys know. I’ve been crying my eyes out the past couple hours. And honestly? I’m just frustrated at my department for cutting half of our classes in a short amount of notice, and making us carry the weight of the budget cuts. I understand the value of money, all this money being spent, I mean  being “invested.” And I feel so horrible right now even though it’s not even out of my own pocket. Thank you for everything.

Angelo wasn’t lying when he said that people in the Philippines are gonna see me dancing like a fool lol ACTUALLY, I&#8217;m related to three former Miss Philippines, in which my family is the ONLY family to have held each of the three internationally competing crowns, AND the first and only Asian-American Miss America in its 90+ years of a pageant. I&#8217;m a proud niece.
